The Biomolecules et Biotechnologies Végétales (BBV EA2106) laboratory from the University of Tours is carrying out research projects related to the characterization of plant specialized metabolisms and the development of biotechnological approaches for the production of such valuable molecules in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic or agricultural fields.
The laboratory has expertise in several disciplines (botany / cellular and molecular biology / biochemistry / omic sciences (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics) / bioinformatics / biotechnologies / bioprocess engineering) which allows it to develop a complete value chain from plants to bioproduction in bioreactors.
BBV's activity is divided into four research themes:
- Elucidation of the monoterpene indole alkaloid metabolism and bioproduction by metabolic engineering in yeast.
- Development of plant cell cultures for the production of bioactive compounds
- Metabolomic study of bioactive vine polyphenols
- Role of protein prenylation in the regulation of plant metabolism and the accumulation of compounds of interest
